Hey folks,
Today’s post will be a quick overview of the newly released P1200 PSU from newcomer brand SAMA. I recently tested their A60E Air cooler on Tom’s Hardware with both Intel and Ryzen CPUs, finding it to be a well-built CPU cooler. I also tested the SAMA Freezee thermal paste, and it was one of the best performing thermal pastes I’ve ever tested!

The P1200 is available in both black and white.

Quiet operation
The power supply is cooled by a 140x25mm manufactured by Globe Fan, also used in other power supplies by Roswill and Super Flower. It is powered by 0.5A motor that is limited to 2000RPM or less, and operates in Zero-RPM mode unless the power supply’s internal temperature reaches 55C or higher.

The PSU is smaller than many competitors of similar power capacity, 15cm long. This will prove useful for those wanting to build a compact PC where every inch of space is valuable.
80 Plus Platinum Certified
The P1200 PSU is 80 PLUS Platinum certified, with SAMA claiming an energy efficiency of no less than 89%.

Dual 12V-2×6 connectors for multi-GPU systems and future-proofing

The most unique feature of this power supply is that it features dual 12V-2X6 power connections, which will come in useful for those running mGPU systems or for those who would like to futureproof their setup for the possibility of power hungry GPUs which may require more electrical delivery than current GPUs do.

Packaging and accessories

The power supply and its accessories are packaged inside of cloth bags with velcro seals.

Despite being a newer power supply, SAMA includes “old school” molex support for those who may be using older devices.

Velcro straps are also included for cable management purposes.

Price and conclusion
For those interested in the SAMA P1200, it can be bought from Amazon for $189.99 USD. This seems like a reasonable price, with many competitors that have similar features priced closer to $300 USD. As for me, I’ll be using this PSU in a future build for cooling-related testing. The only thing I wish this PSU had was a USB connection to allow for detailed monitoring, but you can’t have everything given its relatively cheap price.
